Fukinagashi are colorful windsocks used as decorations during the Japanese Tanabata festival. They represent the threads of the weaver princess Orihime, a key figure in the Tanabata legend. The fukinagashi honor Orihime's skill and are displayed to wish for improvement in weaving and sewing, or more broadly, for general well-being and prosperity in many aspects of life.

Please come learn how to make these festive decorations, as well as help contribute to our annual summer membership potluck party decor!

JASSC will provide all materials, but feel free to bring extra colorful materials if you wish!
