  Want to practice Japanese with real native speakers?

   Come join us for Conversation Over Cookies (COC), hosted on one Saturday every month! Regularly entertaining between 10 and 20 guests, this monthly conversation event allows everyone to practice their language skills, no matter what their skill level. ✋ Each table will have at least one native Japanese speaker, and groups are split into beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 

  Bring a dessert or snack to share, and a water bottle to keep your talking muscles hydrated~~ (aka your lips and throat). 

  Free for members! If you're a member, just log in to enable the free ticket option.

  $5 for non-members

  

  This event is led by dedicated JASSC member and Japanese native, Ayumi Peek. Ayumi was born and raised in Tokyo. She has been a frequent attendee of this event as a native speaker since she moved to Colorado Springs in 2023, and recently volunteered to host. Ayumi loves to share her culture and meet people who are interested in Japan. If your hobbies include hiking, reading thrillers, or baking, she will be extra excited to chat. Come join us!

  Join us for the 2025 Japanese Cultural Bazaar~

  Saturday, May 9th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Pikes Peak United Way Family Success Center (1520 Verde Dr, Colorado Springs)!

  Celebrate Children’s Day with a joyful day of hands-on activities, cultural experiences, and family fun. This annual festival brings the spirit of Japan to Colorado Springs and welcomes children and families of all backgrounds.
  New this year: extended festival hours so families can enjoy even more activities!

  What to Expect
  

  Enjoy a variety of interactive stations and performances, including:

  ● Origami crafting

  ● Make-your-own koinobori (carp streamers)

  ● Traditional Japanese games such as kendama and daruma otoshi

  ● Modern festival games like bouncy ball scoop and shooting gallery

  ● Live musical and martial arts demonstrations, with opportunities to participate

  ● Gala Children’s Fashion Show featuring kimono, yukata, martial arts uniforms, and Asian-inspired outfits – dress to impress!

  ● JASSC Members: Free — simply show your JASSC ID at check‐in

  PARKING INFO:

  Parking lots are shown in yellow in the image below. The red arrow indicates the entrance. There is a parking lot on the west side of the building, in front of the main entrance. However, there's a chance that it may be crowded/full that day, so please note the additional parking area on the east side of the building, accessible from the north entrance at Verde Dr. If all lots are full, guests can also park on Shasta Drive, or on other side-streets.
